Ethan Imboden is a designer and entrepreneur.
As Vice President & Head of Venture Design at frog, he invests the global product strategy and design firm’s capabilities in support of entrepreneurs and their ventures.
Ethan is happiest when leveraging design as a fulcrum for change, disruptor of markets and mediator between technology and humanity. He has more than 20 years of experience in guiding product innovation and entrepreneurial ventures, most recently as founder and Chairman of Jimmyjane, the design-centric brand credited with redefining the sexual wellbeing industry through its award-winning designs and unprecedented mainstream reach.
In addition to frog, Ethan has also worked with Fabernovel, Astro Studios, ECCO Design, the Arnell Group and other firms to develop brands and products for a diverse range of clients including Ford, Colgate, Motorola, Herman Miller, the Knight Foundation and Nike. His work has appeared in numerous museums and exhibitions, and has been recognized with over twenty ID, IDEA, AIGA, Spark and Good Design awards. A prolific innovator, Ethan is listed as an inventor on over fifty registered patents and applications.
Before entering the world of design, Ethan worked as an engineer on the development of DNA sequencers and other automated lab instrumentation for the Human Genome Project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a master’s degree in industrial design from Pratt Institute.
