Calliope is an IoT smart home company empowering homeowners to take control of their water use.

The company’s first product, Buoy, is a connected water meter that gives homeowners real-time information about their water use, with a remote shut off in case of emergencies.
Water consumption data is presented with actionable insights and notifications in a user-friendly app, allowing homeowners to achieve up to 20 percent reduction in water use.
The Calliope Team
Calliope is the third venture undertaken by Keri Waters and Joel Boutros. Keri is a mechanical engineer with degrees from MIT and U.C. Berkeley, and Joel an expert in big data processing.
Moved by the water crisis in California, Calliope was founded in 2015 to create a single device that empowers homeowners to take control of their water use.
They were later joined by Hilary Bryant, former mayor of the City of Santa Cruz and Carroll Wainwright, a data scientist with a Ph.D in physics.
We manage the small stuff, so you can focus on the big picture by sending notifications on leaks or unusual use, providing a remotely operated emergency water shutoff, and comparing your use on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
