Fall 2016: First Impressions

Let's get this cohort started

It's week one and our startups have hit the ground running. While everyone's getting oriented, we chatted with a few teams to get their first impressions.

"Most of what I'm looking for is learning about hardware," says Lampix's George Popescu, "making, building, fixing, improving, selling, distributing. I'm used to a distribution channel that consists of giving someone a login and a password -- I'm not used to having to ship something!" Popescu is ebullient: "We picked Highway1 because it's focused on hardware, so it's perfect for us. The skills of the team are extensive and very useful, so I'm really happy."

"We have a couple of technical hurdles to solve in order to turn our prototype into a usable product," says Ommo's Minjie Zheng. What they're most interested in learning about, though, is "finding out how to tell the story of our company: how we got here, where we want to go."

Ommo CTO Farshad Memarzanjany just can't wait to get into the shop: "I have a lot of experience with the tools in there. I'm like a kid in a candy store; I can build anything. That's worth a lot to me."
